Zulu Maiden Photoshoot

Aphelele

Durban based luxury fashion brand UP_PHELELE welcomed #Spring2018 with the release of its S/S 2018 collection titled “Zulu Maiden”. This range made its debut at the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) last month, which was hosted by the prestigious Durban ICC 👌🏾

Did that sound official or what? It is baba, I mean business 👓
As I have mentioned before, I am a fashion designer and entrepreneur trading as UP_PHELELE and this year marks the first that I conceptualised and created a fashion collection as an independent emerging designer, under the DFF Mentorship Program 🎉

I am super fond of the Zulu Maiden collection because I sourced inspiration for it from three of the things that are closest to my heart (aesthetically that is). First being traditional Zulu beadwork, secondly the futuristic aesthetic and thirdly the Strelitzia flower 🌷I speak more about this range HERE, this post is specifically about the photoshoot…

Durban has beautiful sunny days (for most of the year) and on photoshoot day it was one of those days 😎 The crew and I all met up at the lovely South Beach, and got started with hair and make-up 💅🏾 Who was the crew? You may be asking, we’ll let me introduce them…

ZM Photoshoot Crew

  1. Our photographer and director of the photoshoot – Andile Nyawose (who is a Durban based freelance photographer);
  2. Our make-up artist, Lihle Bhengu (who doubled as a model, because she slays);
  3. Our model Hope Mbhele (radio personality and entrepreneur);
  4. Our model Andile Ndimande (a professional model), and lastly
  5. It’s ME!! Aphelele Chonco (fashion designer and entrepreneur)

I know right? Issa powerhouse 🔥

The results of this powerful concussion are available for viewing pleasure on the official UP_PHELELE website – www.upphelele.co.za and on the UP_PHELELE social media platforms, that’s  Facebook, Instagram and Twitter 📲

Yours in all things Design,
Aphelele
