What you say and do to the next person, whether the behaviour is justified or not, says a mouthful about you as a person.
Respect doesn’t necessarily have to be earned.
I’d like to draw your attention to a rather important aspect of our human existence right across the spectrum.
It seems as though the more progressive we become as people, it is the further we drift away and forsake the basic principles that have remained timeless.
Admittedly, I am old fashioned in the sense that to me it doesn’t matter how educated, prominent, rich or famous you may be – but respect is, as should be, a trait that transcends generations, education, status and whatever other class that might exist.
See I was raised by a discipline-oriented parental unit and for whom I hold respect in the highest regard. It doesn’t and shouldn’t matter how highly you think of yourself, humility and respect will always be fashionable.
It’s scary how in the recent times, more people seem to be loosing such core values that basically shape an entire being.
I still firmly believe that respect and knowing how to meet people at which ever level of life they may be at, says everything about your character and most especially your upbringing.
It is rather disheartening to see an increase in the number of people who are becoming vain and conceited and loose that element of honour.
It doesn’t matter who and what you are, how far you have gone in life or which social rank you belong to, respect should always be your portion.
Not only does it make you a better person, but it inspires others to reciprocate the level of respect that you offer to them.
However, even if people still opt to not treat you with the respect that you deserve by virtue of being human, it still wouldn’t take away anything from you if you continued interacting with them in a respectful manner. You become the bigger individual by default.
A lot has been said and witnessed but I still maintain, respect is key.
Just imagine how different the world could be if we all spoke to everyone with respect and kindness.
Be inspired today to handle everybody you come into contact with, with respect, irrespective of whether they have earned it or not.
