“Find your peace, protect your peace.”- that’s my life motto… Well, one of a few to be honest. There are fewer things I value more than contentment and peace, perhaps because I know all too well the burdensome load of negativity, the heaviness of just not being comfortable in my own skin. I searched deep inside myself and found my peace in letting go of self doubt, negativity and offense. I found freedom in finding my peace, and so I keep my peace.
I like to imagine my mind as a gatekeeper to my heart and soul, whatever I let in or keep out impacts the quality of my life… Whatever I plant in my mind is what I will reap in my life. I believe I am solely responsible for how my life turns out (another one of my life mottos), and the quality of my thoughts plays quite a role in that. It’s a process, I have to cultivate my mind daily. I prune it and trim it and water it until it produces the sweet fruit of personal peace.
To be fair, life is full of distractions, and it’s easy to be side tracked by these here and there. Like weeds invading a beautiful garden, life’s distractions hold the potential to ruin our day, but only if we allow them. We have more power than we think we do, and keeping the garden that is our mind beautiful is our responsibility. We have to transform our thinking by plucking out negativity, self doubt and fear, before they grow strong enough to suffocate the good in us.
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8 NKJV
