HOW TO MAKE: amaGwinya 😋

RECIPE

  • 5/6 cups Cake Flour
  • White Sugar
  • One sachet of yeast
  • Sunflower Oil
  • Warm Water in a jar

METHOD

  1. Mix your dry ingredients in a bowl first (at this stage only add 1/4 cup of sugar).

  2. Add the 1/2 cup of sugar and make sure you wash your hands (you’re about to start doing the mixing) 🤲🏾

     

  3. Use your hands to mix the dry ingredients together. Take the jar of warm water, and mix it with the dry ingredients (make sure that your dough is not too wet).


    Mix everything together using your hands until close to a smooth like Shandis (You know this dough thing 😂🙈) 

  4. Now we pour like 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil into the dough. Give it another mix and you’re done 💃🏾 (with the mixing, at least).

  5. Cover the dough with plastic and blanket over it. Leave it in a warm spot. Keep checking on it until it has raised.

  6. While you wait, half-fill a large pot with cooking oil and heat using a high level of the stove (I recommend level 5).

  7. Once it the dough has raised (after about 30 minutes), with a large cooking spoon – cup a spoon-full of dough and fry it in the sunflower oil. Do this until you have used up all the dough (make sure your cooking oil is fully heated at this stage).
