Attitude of Gratitude

Very often we spend so much time focusing on the things that aren’t going according to our intended plan and schedule and we overlook the many that are actually going right for us.

Today I’d like to re-centre our attention on that which is good and nothing else.

It’s paramount for us to learn to appreciate the blessings that we have received, which in turn tends to open up space for the blessings that may seem somewhat withheld.

Granted, we all go through a season where nothing seems to be going quite right and we spend so much time focusing on the negatives we may be finding ourselves in the company of, but if we adopted an attitude of gratitude, we would realise that we have a lot more going for us than we realise.

If we just took the time to appreciate and take cognisance of the many things that are in fact going well, as minor as they may seem. We’d realise that the good far supersedes the bad in our lives.

An attitude of gratitude needs to be cultivated constantly in our thinking. Not to say that we become oblivious to the not so great portion that is going on in our lives but we choose our point of focus to be on the positive.

The more we cultivate this attitude of gratitude, I believe it also makes way for the flowing in of more good. I believe good vibes attract good things and a positive attitude of gratitude allows or makes room for more things to be grateful for in our lives.

God says he has come that we may have life and have it more abundantly, meaning that He desires for us to function in wealth, wealthy in finance, in health, in spirit and every other possible aspect.

We often tend to spend so much time wallowing over the plans that did not materialise and goals that were not atained that we overlook the simple and very obvious possibility that perhaps things might have not worked out as we have envisaged but they have actually worked out for the better and for our best.

Brian Tracy puts it profoundly in saying: “Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.”


Today I’d like to challenge you to alter your focus away from the negatives, many as they may evidently be, and just choose to alter your perspective towards everything else that is actually going well. You will soon realise that things aren’t as bad as they may seem and that matter of factly, they could actually be far worse. Choose an attitude of gratitude today.
