With Valentines Day at our shores, I can’t help but ask these questions?..
Am I ready for Love?
Am I willing to allow yourself to be Loved?
Am I aware of the amount of Love I am capable of spreading?
Am I willing to put in the work required for love to work?
Do I want to win the love game?
Is Love even a game?..
Last Sunday at church, our priest was talking about love – its properties and its importance to us. One of the readings were taken from (the very popular) 1 Corinthians 13, which reads:
“4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud
5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT.
Okay, let me be the first to admit that when this was announced as the reading for that sermon, I gave a spiritual eye-roll because I thought it would be on of those ‘wedding-style’ sermons 😩
Turns out I was SO WRONG 🙅🏾♀️Father Thembelani posed an opening question, which struck a cord: “Are you aware that if you replace the word ‘Love’ with ‘God’, this still is true?” I hadn’t thought of it that way, to be honest with you 🤔
The follow-up to this question though, is what really got to me: “If you were to replace the word ‘Love’ with your name instead, is it still true?”
WOW, never in my history of reading (and being read to) this Bible verse have I ever turned it around on myself like that before. So I have been asking myself this question, and today I ask you: Are you ready for Love?
Remember, you are more that welcome to leave a comment bellow and let’s #Converse 💬
